The Government of Rwanda has declared the development of sustainable cities and villages and piloting green city development as a blueprint for secondary cities and to initiate a paradigm shift towards green urbanisation, a thematic priority area in the Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy (2013). The planning process has been initiated in 2017 when the relevant partners signed a Memorandum of Understanding, to work towards integrated green concepts and confirming Kinyinya location in Gasabo District as the site for the project. Rwanda's Green Fund (FONERWA) with the financial support of the German Cooperation through KfW now undertakes a Feasibility Study and drafts an Implementation Framework for the development of the Green City Pilot.
The visual identity as a powerful tool that can be displayed in many formats over the different stages of the project.
To conceive the visual identity as the base for the future art/visual direction of the city, promoting the city as a generator of creativiy and innovation. (UNESCO recognices creativity as a major factor in their urban development).
The visual identity should catch the attention of the different parts involved.
The visual identity has to support effective messages through a consistent branding.
